The PositionThe Chief Investment Officer will be responsible for managing multiple fixed income investment portfolios for several entities of the African Development Bank Group. This includes portfolio management, leading the management of the Bank Group's assets in liquid currencies, and identifying and executing investment and trading opportunities within risk parameters.
Key Responsibilities- Manage multiple fixed income investment portfolios for several entities of the African Development Bank Group.
- Lead the management of the Bank Group's assets in liquid currencies, with the objective of capital preservation, profitability, and liquidity maintenance.
- Identify and execute investment and trading opportunities within risk parameters.
- Develop and implement the Investment Process and Strategic Asset Allocation.
- Lead the Bank's short-term funding strategy and its execution by issuing Commercial Paper (CPs) to cover short-term liquidity gaps.
- Lead the credit analysis process to ensure the creditworthiness of specific issuers/counterparties.
- Lead the selection process for external portfolio managers and review their activities to ensure adequate management of the Bank's assets.
- Develop and implement key projects on innovation in investment products and strategies.
- Hold at least a master's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or another relevant quantitative discipline.
- Have a minimum of seven (7) years of relevant and practical experience in International Capital Markets with a strong emphasis on active management of complex fixed income portfolios.
- Demonstrated ability to set strategic direction for fixed income portfolio management, with a proven track record of developing and implementing innovative investment strategies.
- Strong knowledge across a wide range of asset management areas, including strategic asset allocation, Treasury instruments, structured products, Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) investing, and local currency investing.
- Proven credit analysis and financial modelling skills; strong quantitative skills.
- Experience in exercising a related/similar function in another Multilateral Development Bank, Central Bank, investment bank, or top-tier asset management firm.
