About the Job:
We are seeking an experienced Sanctions Compliance Expert to join our client, a leading fintech company in Africa. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a innovative and forward-thinking organization that is committed to making a positive impact in the region.
About the Role:
- This is a full-time, permanent position working remotely.
- You will be responsible for ensuring our client's compliance with regulatory requirements across all areas of operation.
- Your expertise will play a key role in shaping and strengthening our client's compliance practices on a global scale.
- You will provide technical advice, undertake compliance reviews/risk assessments, develop policies, and devise procedures and monitoring controls to help our client comply with relevant laws, regulations, and regulatory reporting licensing requirements across its worldwide operations.
- You will manage a team of Sanctions Compliance analysts who focus on regulator-driven and internally developed sanction watch lists.
- You will create a collaborative compliance framework and foster collaboration by liaising with Global Chief Compliance Officer and our Compliance teams worldwide.
- You will engage with Sanctions regulatory authorities and act as a point of contact and build relationships with Sanctions regulatory authorities and industry standards organizations as necessary.
- You will assist in the development of regulatory and internal audit responses/materials and participate in internal audit and regulatory exams.
- You will manage sanctions global governance forum/committee, prepare and review materials submitted by Lines of Business and perform follow-up with key stakeholders, as required.
- You will work with the Global Financial Crimes Compliance partners and third-party training partner(s) to develop and review sanctions training materials and provide training to relevant teams.
- You will review self-identified issues, perform check and challenge of reported details and track remediation plans and monitor deadlines with relevant issue owner(s).
- You will update the sanctions risk assessment, sanctions country risk rating methodology and review/finalize the comprehensive qualitative write-up.
- You will perform strategic Compliance monitoring, planning and reporting: Develop and implement strategies for monitoring compliance and conducting audits, reviews, and action plans.
- You will ensure our client's practices efficiently align with evolving regulatory requirements by creating and revising the annual Sanctions compliance work plan.
About You:
- University degree in compliance, specifically Sanctions and risk management certifications, banking, financial services, Fintech, Digital and cross-border payments, or another relevant field.
- 10+ years of experience in a compliance role.
- Strong knowledge of OFAC reporting requirements and experience filing Sanctions & Terror Reports, dealing with and managing regulatory exams and internal audits.
- Deep understanding of corporate governance, anti-money laundering (AML), investment and/or payment services regulations, crypto asset regulatory frameworks and other relevant legislation.
- Experience in dealing with regulatory bodies.
- Solid understanding of legal and AML/CFT and anti-bribery and corruption compliance requirements and controls.
- Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
- Strong experience in African compliance is a must.
