The African Development Bank is seeking a highly skilled Principal Internal Auditor to join its team. As a key member of the Office of the Auditor General, you will play a critical role in ensuring the Bank's operations are efficient, effective, and compliant with established standards.
About the RoleThe Principal Internal Auditor will lead audit teams in conducting strategic internal audits and advisory/consulting services, with a strong focus on private sector operations and data analytics. You will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling a broad program of auditing and consulting services, both internally and externally.
Key Responsibilities- Lead audit teams in conducting audits of Bank-wide activities and operations, including financial, administrative, and operational functions.
- Plan audits, determine audit objectives, scope, criteria, methodology, and staff and budget resources required.
- Decide on applicable audit approaches and techniques, prepare planning memoranda, and conduct fieldwork.
- Supervise and review the work of other auditors and consultants, ensure working papers support findings, and prepare audit reports.
- Lead or participate in audit missions to Member Countries' organizations, Project Executing Agencies, and Sites, and advise on compliance with Bank Rules, Regulations, Policies, and Procedures.
- Prepare preliminary and final audit reports, monitor implementation of audit recommendations, and provide advice to other departments and committees.
- Train, direct, and counsel less experienced internal auditors, and participate in knowledge management activities.
- A minimum of a Master's degree in Audit, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, combined with an internationally recognized Professional Accountancy or Auditing qualification.
- A minimum of seven (6) years of auditing experience in an internationally recognized professional accounting firm or an International financial Institution.
- Sound knowledge and auditing experience of private and public sector operations, financial instruments, and information systems.
- Good interpersonal, supervisory, project management, communication, and analytical skills, with the ability to influence and inspire team members.
- Ability to deal with sensitive issues in a multicultural environment and build effective working relations with colleagues.
- Ability to meet deadlines while ensuring quality and exceeding client expectations.
- Ability to apply international audit standards to deliver quality audit reports in line with the Bank's strategy needs/situation.
- Proficiency in the use of computer-aided audit tools and Audit Management Software Systems.
