African Development Bank Job Description

The African Development Bank is a premier pan-African development institution that promotes economic growth and social progress across the continent. We are seeking a Senior Capacity Development Officer to join our team in the Economic Governance and Knowledge Management Complex.

About the Role

As a Senior Capacity Development Officer, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing capacity development initiatives to support the Bank's High 5s and Ten-Year Strategy. You will work closely with the Programme Management Division to develop programmes, strategies, and concept notes for capacity development in support of our Regional Member Countries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct Country Capacity Development Needs Assessments to inform the Bank's capacity development mainstreaming effort.
  • Develop and implement institutional capacity building and fiduciary clinics to enhance the capacity of Bank-funded project management stakeholders.
  • Manage delivery of capacity development activities, including workshops, seminars, and conferences.
  • Work with relevant Bank Units to prepare and finalize flagship reports and research projects.
  • Engage in internal and external resource mobilization for capacity development initiatives.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Master's degree in Economics, Finance, Public Policy, or a related discipline.
  • At least five years of experience in capacity development, research, and operations.
  • Extensive experience in programme and project cycle management, including fiduciary affairs, monitoring and evaluation, and macroeconomic management.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to think strategically.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English or French, with a good working knowledge of the other language.
