Talent2Africa is recruiting for its partner a Chief Operating Officer (COO) – Packaging Industry (Francophone Africa)
Our client is a leading industrial player in the packaging sector (carton, industrial printing, polypropylene bags, and recycling), backed by an international investment fund.
Already a recognized leader in Côte d'Ivoire, the company is entering an ambitious transformation phase aiming to drive operational turnaround, strengthen efficiency, and reach international standards, with the full support of the Board and investors.
As the right-hand of the CEO, the COO will hold full operational authority over factories, supply chain, commercial, and support functions.
He/she will be accountable for operational execution, performance delivery, and the implementation of a high-performance culture.
Main Responsibilities
Operational Leadership: Oversee production, maintenance, quality, supply chain, and logistics. Strengthen discipline, efficiency, and compliance across all sites.
Turnaround & Performance: Drive the transformation and cost-optimization agenda, deploy lean/Kaizen methodologies, and embed a culture of accountability.
Commercial Engagement: Interact directly with 5 to 10 key clients as a technical-commercial partner to enhance credibility and commercial impact.
Strategic Projects: Supervise and support the integration of ongoing strategic initiatives (digitalization, solar energy, new recycling plant – 2026, and water treatment unit).
People Leadership: Inspire and mobilize teams, identify and develop key talents, and maintain transparent communication with both teams and the Board.
Governance & Reporting: Work closely with the CEO, the Board, and investors, providing regular and transparent updates on operations and performance.
Minimum 10 years of industrial leadership experience with a strong record in turnaround or restructuring.
Background in the packaging industry (carton, printing, PP bags) is a major plus. Strong exposure to other complex manufacturing sectors (chemicals, materials, agribusiness) is also valued.
Proven expertise in lean manufacturing, cost optimization, and change management.
Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to execute decisively in complex, emerging market environments.
Experience working with Boards and investors, with a results-driven approach.
Fluent in both French and English.
Regional mobility and adaptability to local markets required.
