Sanitation Specialist

**Overview**

The African Development Bank is seeking a highly skilled Sanitation Specialist to join its Water Development and Sanitation Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the development of the African Water Facility (AWF) portfolio, with a focus on sanitation.

**Job Summary**

We are looking for a motivated and experienced professional to fill this critical role. As a Sanitation Specialist, you will play a key part in ensuring the effective management of the AWF's sanitation portfolio, including the supervision of projects, development of knowledge products, and coordination with sanitation partners.

**Key Responsibilities**

• Develop and implement strategies to improve sanitation outcomes in Africa, aligned with the AWF's strategy and goals.
• Supervise the AWF's sanitation portfolio, ensuring that project objectives are met and that financing for follow-up investments is secured.
• Conduct research and analysis to identify best practices and innovative approaches in sanitation, and develop knowledge products to disseminate findings and lessons learned.
• Cultivate partnerships with governments, river basin organizations, local governments, utilities, private sector companies, and non-governmental organizations to support the development of sanitation projects and programs.

**Requirements**

• Masters degree in Civil Engineering, Sanitary Engineering, Sanitation and Hygiene, or related discipline.
• At least 6 years of relevant experience in project management, sanitation policy and strategy development, preparation and management of non-sewered sanitation and reuse projects preferably in urban and peri-urban settings.
• Ability to work independently with little supervision as well as part of a multicultural team.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships in a diverse multicultural environment.
• Familiarity with International Development Financing Institutions in developing countries, including their operational policies and procedures.
