BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
The African Development Bank (AfDB) is Africa's preeminent development finance organization. WFP has worked closely with AfDB in recemy years to develop a partnership based on shared objectives and mobilize financing to help countries make progress towards the food security and nutrition goals and targets of AU Agenda 2063 and the UN's 2030 Agenda.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. The Africa Development Finance Advisor reports to the Director of the Public PartnershipsDivision, or his/her designate, and will lead WFP's engagements with the African DevelopmentBank and the African Development Fund, henceforth known as the African Development BankGroup (AfDB Group), by performing the following duties:
2. Contributing to and implementing the engagement strategy with the AfDB Group;
3. Coordinating WFP strategic engagement with appropriate AfDB Group focal points with inputfrom WFP Country Offices, Regional Offices and Headquarters technical units;
4. Identify and follow up on strategic and funding opportunities to partner with the AfDB Group tosupport achievement of relevant goals and targets of Agenda 2063 and the 2030 Agenda withinthe framework of WFP's Country Strategic Plans;
5. Support WFP regional and country-level strategic engagement with AfDB representatives)
1.Anual or biannual implementation plans outlining key actions, timelines, and responsible units.
2 Periodic progress reports (e.g., quarterly or semi annual) on the development of the WFP-AfDB partnership and engagement strategy, highlighting achievements, challenges, and course correction needs.
3.Briefing packages for WFP leadership ahead of high level engagements with the AfDB Group.
4.Consolidated WFP input notes for AfDB strategic consultations, events, replenishment processes, orpartnership frameworks.
5.Donor intelligence briefs on AfDB Group funding trends, sector priorities, and financial instrumentsrelevant to WFP.
6.Established collaboration with the PPD CO Suppot Hub and ROs to provided tailored support to CDson how to collaborate with the AfDB Group, including project development steps
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education: Advanced academic degree and fluency in English and French.
Experience: At least 10 years of previous technical and management experience with the AfDB Group or an appropriate international financial institution with substantial investments in Africa;
Knowledge & Skills: Demonstrated and broad experience in establishing strategic and programmatic partnerships with governments, stakeholders and subject matter experts;
Languages: Significant management and technical experience in food security and nutrition policy and strategy formulation, programme management, project planning and institutional strengthening;
English (Level C) and French (Level C).
