As the QHSE Manager for the Engineering & Construction Division in Ivory Coast, you will serve as the senior operational QHSE leader for all related activities in the country. This role also acts as the Deputy to the Head of QHSE for Africa. Your primary responsibility is to translate regional QHSE strategy into action on the ground, leading all operational aspects of our engineering and construction projects. You will act as the second-in-command for the region, deputizing for the Head of QHSE.
Key Responsibilities would include:
- Operational Leadership & Strategy Implementation: Lead the on-the-ground implementation of the regional QHSE strategy across all projects in Ivory Coast. Act as the primary operational QHSE leader in the country, providing hands-on guidance to project teams and ensuring all activities align with established strategic objectives.
- Country-Wide QHSE Oversight: Lead and manage all QHSE activities for engineering and construction projects in Ivory Coast, requiring frequent visits to various sites to ensure compliance, mitigate risks, and promote a strong safety culture.
- Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Implement and manage systems for tracking QHSE operational performance. Prepare and present detailed reports and data analysis to country and regional leadership.
- Incident Management & Investigation: Lead investigations into significant QHSE incidents, identify root causes, and implement robust corrective and preventive actions to ensure continuous improvement.
- Compliance & Auditing: Ensure all operations comply with local regulations, company policies, and international standards. Plan, execute, and follow up on a comprehensive QHSE audit and inspection program.
- Training & Competency Development: Oversee the country's QHSE training program, ensuring all personnel are competent to carry out their roles safely and effectively.
- Documentation & System Management: Oversee the management of all QHSE documentation, ensuring records are accurately maintained, controlled, and readily accessible for audits and reviews.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have/be:
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Safety Management, or a related field.
- A relevant professional qualification in Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE).
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in a senior QHSE leadership or management role, with significant experience in the construction industry.
- Full professional fluency in both English and French (verbal and written).
- Expert proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) with strong data management capabilities.
The ideal candidate will also demonstrate:
- Knowledge of International Finance Corporation (IFC) Performance Standards is a strong plus.
