The African Development Bank is seeking a Senior Communications Officer to contribute to the communication of its Independent Development Evaluation (IDEV) department. The role involves planning and leading internal and external communication efforts, producing and disseminating various communications materials, and supporting events led by IDEV.

The ideal candidate will have at least a Master's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related fields, with a minimum of five years' professional experience in communicating on international development. They should have experience working on conception, design, packaging, and dissemination of knowledge products to various audiences and understanding of channels of dissemination.

The Senior Communications Officer will work closely with IDEV knowledge management and evaluation task managers to ensure coherent and consistent branding and style of IDEV products. They will also be responsible for managing the IDEV website, electronic newsletters, and mass mailings, as well as enhancing and managing IDEV's social media presence.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and leading internal and external communication efforts
  • Producing and disseminating various communications materials
  • Supporting events led by IDEV
  • Managing the IDEV website, electronic newsletters, and mass mailings
  • Enhancing and managing IDEV's social media presence

The successful candidate will have excellent writing, communication, and reporting skills, as well as the ability to capture and communicate key messages succinctly. They will also have experience using different communication channels, including social media, and dissemination approaches.

Competencies required include:

  • Master's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related fields
  • Minimum of five years' professional experience in communicating on international development
  • Experience working on conception, design, packaging, and dissemination of knowledge products to various audiences
  • Understanding of channels of dissemination
  • Excellent writing, communication, and reporting skills
  • Ability to capture and communicate key messages succinctly
