Position Title: Head of Legal Ivory Coast

ABOUT THE JOB

 

The responsibility of the Legal Head for Côte d’Ivoire is to safeguard the interests of the Barry Callebaut Group legal entities in the country through any required legal means. He/she reports functionally to the Regional Legal & Compliance Director-Africa and operationally to the Country Managing Director.

 

KEYS RESPONSABILITIES

  • Protect the Business from legal and commercial risks by providing business-oriented legal services, including the drafting and review of documents which may generate liability or obligations, paying attention to quality, timeliness and business objectives. Assist all legal entities in business and corporate transactions with robust analysis while minimizing costs and mitigating risks
  • Drive the Legal Department’s objectives in Côte d’Ivoire under the supervision of the Regional Legal & Compliance Director
  • Review, draft and advice on contract negotiations with a range of external partners including out of Côte d’Ivoire
  • Engage with the local, Regional and Group management on relevant legal & compliance topics when required
  • Provide trainings on regulation ad policies to various functional and business areas
  • Effectively build and manage external counsels network to deliver robust support to the business at an optimized cost
  • Perform an active regulatory watch and update/train the Business on a potential impact
  • Roll out the Compliance agenda, strategy and activities; act as the Compliance champion in the Côte d’Ivoire


ABOUT YOU


REQUIRED ACADEMIC & TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum post graduate in private/Business law with a perfect mastery of OHADA regulation
  • At least 7 years of experience in multinational companies or a reputable international law firm
  • Bilingual (French/English)
  • Knowledge in Data Privacy and Compliance(Nice to have)

 

 

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE

 

  • Excellent knowledge of the Côte d’Ivoire regulatory environment and of the OHADA regulation
  • Solid experience in FMCGs (with factories or manufacturing sites preferably)
  • Experience in dealing with senior government officials or institutions
  • Good experience in employment/labor related litigation or dispute management

TECHNICAL OR FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES 

  • Solid experience in company secretary
  • Good presentation skills
  • Good experience in Labor law, procedures
  • Good experience in litigation management including related stakeholders

 

 

INTERPERSONAL / LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES
